Nuclear Medicine Radiation Physics Services

- Quarterly surveys of the Nuclear Medicine Department to evaluate existing radiation safety programs and assure conformance with nuclear medicine radiation safety regulations and guides. Provide recommendations going forward as necessary.
- Wipe sampling for removable contamination and survey meter measurements of exposure rates in areas of radioactive material use or storage.
- Health physics in service training session for nuclear medicine, radiology and other facility personnel as required by JCAHO and the NRC.
- Quarterly calibration of the nuclear dose calibrator with two NIST traceable sources.
- Calibration of radiation nuclear survey meters.
- Quarterly inventory and leak testing of sealed sources.
- Preparation of documentation necessary for radioactive material licensure including license renewal applications and amendment requests.
- Review of the facility’s ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) program and provide analysis and appropriate recommendations.
